Relative Paths

In PIXERA, it is possible to store asset paths as relative paths within the project. This means that, if you maintain a clean and consistent project folder structure, you can copy or move the entire project folder without needing to relink assets—as long as the internal structure remains unchanged.

This can be a practical alternative to Bundle Project, especially when you want to transfer a project between different systems without modifying the existing folder structure.

To activate this, you must enable it in the settings under Project->General Settings->Save Relative Resource Paths.

When you save and move the project, the resource paths are saved relative to the project path. This also works if the content was saved in layers outside the project files.

Example

Here we have this folder structure for the project file:

In this case, the project is stored within “PIXERA Projects,” and the assets are stored outside of this folder. If we now move the entire folder “ISE2026_DemoBundle” and open the project, the assets will be searched for relative to the project file and the resource paths will be called up in this folder.

If we need to move the “ISE2026_DemoBundle” folder without the relative path option, we must restore all paths within the project.

Warning

It is important how the option was set when saving the project. If you open the project and save it again without the option “Save Relative Resource Paths”, it will revert to absolute paths.
