When starting PIXERA, it may take longer than usual. This guide deals with the possible causes and offers suggestions for improvement.
Symptoms
Pixera takes longer than usual to open, over a minute.
Cause
There are two possible causes.
Project File size
If the project file is too large (>300 MB), it will take longer to load the file. The larger file size is usually caused by custom 3D objects that have to be loaded into the show file, in particular by the vertex modifier in the warping of the 3D object, as all vertices are duplicated here and this can cause a lot of memory consumption under certain circumstances.
Solution
Checking for unnecessary vertex modifiers and deleting them.
Mapped network drives
This is due to the list of drives. When starting up, everything runs in the GUI thread, and there are Windows methods that can take a very long time to return. This usually has to do with network drives that are not available. Sometimes it also takes a very long time in Windows Explorer when you click on such a drive until Windows eventually displays a message saying that the drive is not available.
Solution
Remove mapped network drives or keep them connected at all time.
