Routes incoming data from one input to the selected output. The output count is configured during setup; the destination can be changed at runtime through the selection attribute.

Usage

Use this module to send a shared data source to one of several destinations. Only the selected output is called when data arrives at input. The module forwards the supplied arguments without interpreting their contents.

Setup

  1. Set Outputs to the required positive whole number. The export contains five outputs and defaults to 5.
  2. Press Create to rebuild the Outputs folder. Changing Outputs alone does not rebuild it. Rebuilding triggers a Core Reload and should be performed during setup, because it interrupts active operation. Check the node connections after rebuilding.
  3. Connect the source to input and connect Outputs.out1, Outputs.out2, and the other required output actions to their destinations.
  4. Set selection to an existing output number, starting at 1. For example, selection(2, true) selects Outputs.out2. Calling selection() reads the current value; doSet = false also reads without changing it. The exported attribute report is 1.00, while the Lua fallback is 0; explicitly configure a valid selection before sending data.
  5. Send data to input. The selected output forwards the incoming arguments to its connected actions.

Outputs must be a positive whole number. Invalid or missing values produce an error and leave the existing output structure unchanged. input rounds a numeric selection down and verifies that the corresponding output action exists. An unset, non-finite, nonnumeric, or nonexistent selection produces an error and stops forwarding that call. Select an existing output before using the module.

Features

  1. Routes a single source to one selected destination.
  2. Allows the destination to be changed through an integer attribute at runtime.
  3. Generates numbered output actions from the configured output count during setup.
  4. Forwards variable-length argument lists to connected actions.

Actions

An empty exported parameter type is shown as unspecified. Forwarded node data is described in the Info column; it is not a declared Lua result.

Action Info Input Output
input Forwards the arguments to the selected Outputs.outN action. ... (unspecified) -
selection Reads or sets the selected output number. val (int), doSet (bool) result (int)
createOutputs Hidden setup action used by Create; rebuilds the Outputs folder using Outputs. - -
Outputs FOLDER FOLDER FOLDER
Outputs.out1 Forwards arguments to the actions connected to output 1. ... (unspecified) -
Outputs.out2 Forwards arguments to the actions connected to output 2. ... (unspecified) -
Outputs.out3 Forwards arguments to the actions connected to output 3. ... (unspecified) -
Outputs.out4 Forwards arguments to the actions connected to output 4. ... (unspecified) -
Outputs.out5 Forwards arguments to the actions connected to output 5. ... (unspecified) -

The table lists the exported actions. Create regenerates the numbered actions for the configured count.

Changelog

1.0

  • Reject invalid output counts before rebuilding, with an actionable error message.
  • Reject unset or invalid selections and missing output actions without causing a Lua error.
  • Forward output data without collecting downstream return values.
  • Load configuration through loadAllProperties(), add the Description string type, and remove the unused Auto Init property.
