This document describes how Modules are imported in PIXERA, the available storage locations, and how Module paths are managed.

Module Storage Locations

In PIXERA, there are two primary module paths (and a third option introduced in version 26.2) where Control Modules can be stored.

Starting with 26.2, the paths will be displayed more clearly in the library.

1. Standard Library Path

The PIXERA standard library path contains all modules that are installed together with a specific PIXERA version.

Location:

C:\Program Files\AV Stumpfl\Pixera\build_xxx\data\control_library_standard

  • These modules are version-specific
  • They are delivered by the PIXERA installer

2. User Library Path

The user library path stores all modules that are exported or imported by the user.

Location:

C:\ProgramData\AV Stumpfl\Pixera\control_library_user

  • Modules stored here are independent of the PIXERA version
  • They are accessible across multiple PIXERA installations
  • This is the default location for all imported modules

Whenever a module is imported, it is always saved in the user library path.

3. Custom Library Path (since PIXERA 26.2)

Starting with version 26.2, PIXERA allows defining a Custom User Library in the Control Settings.

  • PIXERA scans this directory for JSON files that represent valid control modules
  • Detected modules are automatically displayed in the library

Use cases:

  • Development workflows
  • Direct integration with repository-based module storage
  • Shared module environments

Module Import and Library Path Assignment

When a module is imported into the Module Workspace, it is assigned a library path.

This path enables the following:

  • Re-exporting the module back to its original location
  • Performing a library update, meaning:
    • If a module is updated in its source directory
    • The corresponding module in the workspace can be updated accordingly

For more information, refer to:

If changes are made to the Libraries during the current session, you can reload all of them using the Reload button

Updating Modules from Libraries

Modules imported from both the Standard Library and the User Library can be updated directly.

Standard Library Updates

  • If a module is updated in a newer PIXERA version
  • The updated version can also be applied to modules already present in the workspace

User Library Updates

  • Modules stored in the user library behave similarly
  • Any updates to the module files can be propagated to the workspace

Summary

  • PIXERA supports three module storage locations:
    • Standard Library (version-dependent)
    • User Library (version-independent)
    • Custom Path (since 26.2)
  • All imported modules are stored in the User Library
  • Modules maintain a library path for updates and exports
