Please refer to this article for the basic information about the Resource Browser UI Element: Module UI Elements.
In this article, we will be going into more depth of how the Resource Browser works, with visual aids stepping through its use.
This browser shows all pieces of media inside a folder of the Compositing Resources Library. These can be applied to a Layer either by manually placing the content for the full layer, or it can be placed in a Playlist Editor to place multiple resources onto a Layer at once. Also, play, pause and stop control elements are available for the Layer's Transport
Button Usage
The Resource Browser holds multiple buttons and a dropdown at the top of the Element, these include:
- Play: Plays the Layer.
- Pause: Pauses the Layer.
- Stop: Stops the Layer.
- Loop Content: Loops this content on the Layer.
- Folder: Selects a folder of content to look at.
- Reduce Icon Size: Reduces the size of the content icons in the Element.
- Increase Icon Size: Increases the size of the content icons in the Element.
Workflows
Direct Layer Control
The Resource Browser's “Action” setting can be set to a Layer, for it to Control a Layer's set resource and its Transport Modes.
From there, clicking on a resource will apply it to that Layer, and using the buttons mentioned above, you are able to play, pause, and stop that content from playing back.
Resource Browser + Playlist Editor
Another option is to use the Playlist Editor with the Resource Browser to create quick, simple, back to back content playback that can also loop.
By dragging and dropping a Resource Browser's content thumbnail into the Playlist Editor area, it will add it to a list of content. You can add as many of these one after another as you like. From there the Playlist Editor can output this to the connected Layer with a loop cue at the end if desired.
